Patricia (Patti) J. Epstein received her Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 1984, and obtained her Juris Doctor degree in 1989 from Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from law school, Patti practiced law in Manhattan at two litigation firms (Bower & Gardner and Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker) concentrating in the area of medical malpractice defense until relocating to Madison in 1995, when she married a Wisconsinite.
Patti's practice area is concentrated in the defense of civil litigation matters. She defends physicians and other health care professionals in medical malpractice cases and represents physicians and other professionals in disciplinary actions brought by the State. Patti has lectured extensively to physician groups on topics relating to their practice and the law. She has been involved with the defense of legal malpractice actions as well. Patti also defends all types of personal injury matters, inclusive of automobile accidents, premises liability, products liability and insurance coverage matters. Patti has tried numerous cases throughout the state since she moved to Wisconsin and has also been involved with several appellate decisions.
Patti is currently a member of the Civil Trial Counsel of Wisconsin, the Dane County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. She also formed a group called "Lawyer Moms," comprised of working women attorneys with young children, which currently has about 30 members.
Patti is a flutist and an active member of the Madison Flute Club and Madison Community Orchestra. She lives in Middleton with her husband and children.
